How many times have you read articles on “Happiness” that give you five (or eight, or ten…) tips to a happier life? They seem to be in almost every magazine and blog! Some of them are really helpful and are based on good research. Others – well maybe not so good!
What they have in common is that they are lists of things you can do to supplement your life and bring some satisfaction
But I’m always left wondering how it all works out across the whole of life. It’s as if there’s a formula to bring “added happiness” to the recipe of life – “do this and it’ll work out.”
But I want something that doesn’t just add something
I want a joined-up, integrated life that makes sense and brings fulfilment in all situations. I think I want a framework, not just a formula. Can a list of things do that, or should there be something that integrates all the disparate parts of life into one whole? That word “integrate” – it means “to bring together previously segregated parts into one unified system, into a whole.” Sounds good to me…
So what do you think? What’s your “hermeneutic” for life?
What framework do you have that enables you to interpret your experiences in life? That gives some kind of meaning to the whole thing – not just some anecdotal add-ons? Do let me know!
