One of my neighbours is a journalist with a well-known newspaper. I bumped into him a week or so ago, and asked him how things were going. He said that one of the party leaders wouldn’t ever give his paper an interview….but the other main party leader was doing fine (I won’t tell you who was who!).
And then he said, “So what kind of question would you put to one of these guys if you interviewed them?” Fortunately I’d already been thinking about it, so I said, “There seem to be only a few issues that get airtime with the media in this election – the economy, the NHS, immigration….
So how about these:
· What state do you think relationships are in across the country, and how can we help to make them more healthy?
· How are you going to help people find more meaning and purpose in their lives, beyond getting a good job and enough to live on?”
“Hmm” he said, “not many questions like that get asked.” Perhaps we should come up with more like them!
So….what kind of questions would you ask?
