Andy & Jill Parnham

The course itself has a good balance between the impartation of information; opportunities to participate in exercises; discussion; and guidance for following up outside the confines of the course evenings themselves.

Coaching

Why Coaching?

AP on Millennium Bridge

When we hear the word “coaching” many of us think of business executives, entrepreneurs or sports people. It all seems a long way from our personal lives. But a coach is simply someone who can help us grow and achieve more in our lives, in all kinds of contexts – not just work.

That’s why “life coaching” is a helpful term, because there’s really no part of our lives where we can’t find space to grow. Whether you want to find more fulfilment in your work, bring direction to a flagging relationship, develop your own life, or just get beyond that “stuck place”, a coach can help. More often than not, just sitting with someone who is willing to listen and walk with you in your journey is as valuable as any technical expertise.

Approach

This quote, describing what a coach does, explains Andy’s approach well…

“Part consultant, part motivational speaker, part therapist and part rent-a-friend, coaches work with people, helping them define and achieve their goals — career, personal, or most often, both” (Newsweek)

Andy holds a certificate in Life Coaching from Newcastle College (2006), with a further Coaching for Leadership qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management. Over many years he has worked with individuals and groups, helping them to discover and use their talents and strengths, grow their relationships and find purpose in life.

His work has involved leading organisations, mentoring and coaching individuals, and training and coaching groups. Currently, amongst other contexts, he works with an NHS trust to coach and train staff in their professional and personal settings.
