I was in the gym some time ago and saw this slogan
It was on someone’s t-shirt: “Live full – die empty.” I liked it – or at least half liked it…
I liked the idea of living life to the full. I presume what he had in mind was…
- The experience of enjoying every moment as it comes with energy and enthusiasm.
- Living in such a way that when you eventually get to the end, you aren’t full of regrets and disappointments.
- Not being half-hearted, but embracing life as much as you can.
- Leaving a legacy that enriches other people.
Good stuff. But how about “Die empty”?
What’s that all about? I’m not sure that I want to die empty. I think I’d like to die full – full of the same kinds of experiences, achievements and satisfactions as when I was living.
Because if I die empty there’s nothing left.
Isn’t one of the keys to successful living that we multiply ourselves through our achievements and relationships? The container ends up more….well, full not empty.
So how about you?
What kind of full life do you want? What would a full life look like for you? When you come to the point of dying do you want to be empty or full?
And if, full – full of what?
